Svoboda leadership met with John Demjanjuk's lawyer, Dr. Ulrich Busch

30 квітня 2013 року заступник Голови Всеукраїнського об'єднання "Свобода", народний депутат України Юрій Сиротюк та керівник Служби міжнародних зв'язків ВО "Свобода" Тарас Осауленко зустрівся з адвокатом, відомим німецьким правником, захисником Івана Дем'янюка доктором Ульріхом Бушем. Участь у заході також взяла дружина Ульріха Буша Віра Костюк-Буш, відома своїми благодійними заходами та підтримкою українських дітей.

Під час заходу свободівець Юрій Сиротюк подякував Ульріху Бушу за мужню громадянську позицію та професійний захист Івана Дем'янюка під час судового процесу над українцем у Німеччині.

"На жаль, ми змушені констатувати, що є спроба деяких політичних кіл у Німеччині на догоду їхнім партнерам із Кремля переписати результати Другої світової війни та перекласти відповідальність за скоєні злочини на представників інших народів. І навіть цьогоріч, у 80-ті роковини Голодомору 33 року, жертв якого вшановуватиме весь світ, німецький уряд досі відмовляється визнати Голодомор-33 геноцидом українського народу", – наголосив Юрій Сиротюк.

У свою чергу Ульріх Буш розповів, що для нього процес над Іваном Дем'янюком став виявом боротьби двох емоцій – ненависті та непохитності позиції.

"З одного боку, обвинувачення буквально випромінювало тваринну ненависть до старенького Івана Дем'янюка і намагалося в його особі звинуватити всіх українців у злочинах Другої світової війни. З іншого боку, Іван Дем'янюк був символом мужності, непохитності позиції та любові. Під час судового процесу українцю декількома словами вдавалося спростувати та звести нанівець нескінченні гнівні тиради, спрямовані проти нього. Я вважав і вважаю Івана Дем'янюка невинуватим. Переконаний, що він був взірцевою людиною в питанні непохитності й захисту своїх ідеалів. Дем'янюк був із когорти тих людей, які завжди готові віддати своє життя заради своєї справи, заради України. На жаль, ця судова справа передусім опинилася в заручниках великої політики. З одного боку міжнародні кола, частина американських юристів, центр Сімона Візенталя тиснули на Німеччину, аби Дем'янюка визнати злочинцем, з іншого боку Німеччина намагається зняти з себе тавро розпалювача Другої світової війни та перекласти відповідальність на інші народи та у площину персоналій. Таким чином намагаються переглянути результати тієї страшної війни", – зазначив під час заходу Ульріх Буш.

Заступник Голови ВО "Свобода" Юрій Сиротюк також відзначив, що задля побудови справедливої, вільної та могутньої держави потрібно передусім керуватися любов'ю до свого та повагою до чужого, бо ненависть ніколи не може бути плідною. "Свобода" усю свою діяльність – попри століття окупації, принижень і ненависті щодо українців – будує на любові, на захисті свого, українського. Водночас наголошуємо і на повазі до кожного народу, кожної нації. Мова ненависті ніколи не є продуктивною. Тільки виходячи з любові та захисту свого і поваги до чужого зможемо збудувати гідну поваги у світі державу", – додав свободівець.

Доктор Ульріх Буш також повідомив, що за результатами судового процесу над українцем Іваном Дем'янюком він видав у Німеччині книгу "Дем'янюк – жертовне ягня", яку найближчим часом за сприяння ВО "Свобода" буде презентовано в українському перекладі.

On April 30, 2013, Vice Chairman of the all-Ukrainian Association "Svoboda", National Deputy of Ukraine, Yury Sirotyuk, and head of international relations of "Svoboda", Taras Osaulenko, met with the famous German lawyer, defender of John Demjanjuk, Dr. Ulrich Busch. His wife, Vera Kostiuk-Busch, known for her charitable activities and support of Ukrainian children, also took part in the event.

During the event, Yury Sirotyuk thanked Ulrich Busch for his brave civic position and professional defense of John Demjanjuk during the trial in Germany of a Ukrainian. "Unfortunately, we have to state that there is an attempt by some political circles in Germany to please their partners in the Kremlin to rewrite the results of the Second World War and shift the responsibility for the crimes committed by themselves onto representatives of other Nations. And even this year -- the 80th anniversary of the 1933 Holodomor, the victims of which are honored by the whole world -- the German Government still refuses to recognize the 1933 Holodomor as genocide against the Ukrainian people," said Yury Sirotyuk.

In his turn, Ulrich Busch related how for him the trial of John Demjanjuk highlighted the struggle between two emotions: hatred and a steadfast position of innocence.

"On the one hand, the prosecution literally expressed an animal hatred toward the elderly John Demjanjuk and, through him, tried to blame all Ukrainians for the crimes of World War II. On the other hand, John Demjanjuk was a symbol of courage, love and steadfastness. During the trial, he managed to express several Ukrainian words to refute or negate the endless angry rants directed against him. I believed and believe John Demjanjuk to be innocent. I am convinced that he was an exemplary person with respect to steadfastness and protection of his ideals. Demjanjuk was of those people who are always ready to give their life for the sake of their cause, for the sake of Ukraine. Unfortunately, this court case was, above all, handcuffed to world politics. On the one hand, the international circle, a segment of American lawyers and the Simon Wiesenthal Center pressed on Germany to declare Demjanjuk a criminal. On the other hand, Germany is trying to shake off the stamp of instigator of the Second World War and shift the responsibility to other peoples and into personalities. In this way, they are trying to distort the results of that terrible war,"said Ulrich Busch during the meeting.

Deputy Chairman of "Svoboda", Yury Sirotyuk, also noted that, in order to build a fair, free and powerful State, one must first be guided by love for one's country and respect for others, because hatred can never be fruitful. "Svoboda in all its activities -- despite a century of occupation, humiliation and hate towards Ukrainians -- is building on love and protecting our Ukrainian heritage. At the same time, we reaffirm our respect for every people and every nation. The language of hatred is never productive. Only on the basis of love and protection of our own heritage, while respecting others, will we be able to build a decent respected State of the world ," added the Svoboda representative.
 
 Dr. Ulrich Busch also announced that he has published the results of the trial of Ukrainian John Demjanjuk in Germany in a book titled "Demjanjuk - Sacrificial Lamb", which will be presented in Ukrainian translation in the near future with the assistance of "Svoboda".
