Jewish Holocaust Museum

Dear Editor:

The opinion of Lawrence Hart of B'nai Brith Canada in the Aug. 17, 1999 issue of the Toronto Star, extolling the virtues of an exclusive Jewish Holocaust Museum at the expense of an inclusive Genocide Museum is a marvel of disinformation, innuendo and hypocrisy.

First, he insults Canadians by equating our society to that of the German Third Reich. Next, he identifies the need to educate Canadians on the evils of racism. Finally, he proposes the Holocaust industry as the medium by which to achieve his goals.

May I suggest to B'nai Brith Canada and the Canadian Jewish Congress that the Holocaust industry has done more to promote hatred and intolerance and to trivialize the deaths of millions of people during WWII than all the so-called neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers combined. An exclusive Holocaust Museum bequeathing ubermenschen status on the suffering of Jews is certain to promote further hatred and intolerance within Canadian society.

Respectfully submitted
