Free Speech all Smoke

(Re: “Price of free speech,” Michael Coren) Years ago, bureaucrats who run Canada’s human rights industry decided the way to ensure a 100% conviction rate was to divorce cause from effect and focus on the latter. Since then, free speech in Canada has been reduced to a schoolyard where monitors catch and punish some expressions of offensive speech, while others are winked at. Our free speech is simply what our betters will let us rubes get away with. Any theoretical claim to freedom of expression as enshrined in the Charter of Rights is just smoke.
