Telegdi did the right thing

Having vocally and publicly criticized Kitchener-Waterloo MP Andrew Telegdi's position and tactics related to the Helmut Oberlander matter, I feel it is incumbent upon me to be as vocal and public in congratulating him when he makes the right moves in similarly important areas.

Telegdi's refusal to accede to his party's attempt to limit debate on one of the most important pieces of legislation -- the "anti-terrorism" Bill C-36, -- is in the finest traditions of parliamentary democracy.

There is much to be concerned about in this bill and much that is necessary and desirable. Stifling debate serves nobody -- except a government overly intent on getting its way.
