Government Issues Committee Report; Wed., Mar. 03, 2004

(1) On Feb. 23, 2004, the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration elected the following: Sarkis Assadourian (Chair, Lib.), Raymonde Folco (Vice-chair, Lib.), Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral (Opposition Vice-chair, BQ) from amongst its 16 members, which include Inky Mark and Andrew Telegdi. There are 66 associate-members.

(2) Meeting #4 scheduled for Mar. 10, 2004 includes a briefing on “Foreign Credential Recognition”. This may be of particular interest to Bill Diachuk (UCSS), Roman Petryshyn (Grant McEwan College) and others in the Ukrainian community in Alberta.

(3) There is no evidence that Bill C-18 and/or its draconian provisions with regards to revocation of citizenship will be re-introduced in the near future.

(4) Dr. Lubomyr Prytulak continues to defend his Ukrainian Archive before the Canadian Human Rights Commission with a letter titled “Ukrainian Archive Philo-Semitism Encounters a Snarling Rottweiler” to Mary Gusella, Chief Commissioner of the CHRC, archived at
